Kevin’s observations on developing high performance business focused HR operations:
Model the behavior you want. Leadership sets the tone for the organization. Treat employees how you want them to treat customers.
Every employee’s experience should start with the purpose of the company. Define it. Teach it. Reinforce it.
Purpose is what drives us, it’s what drives human beings. Function should follow purpose.
As a leader, you need to get out of the office. Leaders need to be coaches.
Leaders should have coaches. In sports, everyone has a coach, if not a team of coaches. There’s nothing wrong, and in fact, it’s a positive for leaders to have coaches.
The number one thing employees want from their work environment is the opportunity to learn and grow. A successful organization should provide development and promotion opportunities.
Positive reinforcement needs to be provided at a much higher rate than constructive criticism. People need to trust their leaders before they will positively receive constructive feedback.
Every day should start with a briefing on the purpose of the organization and then focus on the day.
These are just some of Kevin’s insights into managing global HR operations. There is more to it, of course. Would you like more information or want to bounce ideas off of world class experts in HR? Give us a call, you’ll be glad you did! 01 (914) 218-3149.
